Our Visitors Centre is staffed by volunteers, who will be more than happy to help you with local information & where to find the best wildflowers.
Wildflower season starts around June when the first Orchids appear, then continues right through until November-December when the Verticordia (Featherflower) blooms. The best months to see our wildflowers is August & September but don’t forget to come back for the Reynoldson Reserve Wildflower Festival on the first Weekend in November (2019) when the Verticordia is at it’s peak.
The concentration of wildflowers in Wongan Hills is equal to Mount Lesueur National Park, Stirling Range National Park and Fitzgerald National Park. There are numerous species of priority flora within the Wongan-Ballidu Shire.
We have several walk trails for you to experience from easy flat wildflower walks (approx 1km) up to Mt Matilda flora walk which takes 3 hours (short walk) or the longer scenic walk which takes 5 hours to complete. There’s something for everyone!
Call into the Visitors Centre at “The Station” to find out further information. We have lots of fun & exciting products & souvenirs for a reminder of your visit or that “special gift”.
We are open from around Easter each year and close mid December. As the weather heats up, the visitors stop coming therefore during December our hours will reduce to the following:
December Opening times:
Monday – Friday 9.00am – 1.00pm
Saturday 9.00am – 1.00pm
We will be closing on the 12th December for our Summer Break and will re-open on Monday 22nd March 2021. Thank you to everyone who visited and supported us during this unusual year.
Thank you to all our volunteers, your dedication to the job is very much appreciated and I’m sure our Visitors appreciate the time you donate to the Visitors Centre each week.
